Nagelsmann believes that Wirtz's difficulties early in the season are largely due to his integration with the squad.
"Even if Wirtz hasn't scored a goal yet, he's the player who creates the most chances in the Premier League," Nagelsmann said.
"It's not Wirtz's fault if his teammates aren't creating chances for him, and the statistics don't tell the whole story," he added.
Nagelsmann is confident that Wirtz will continue to improve as he gets used to the Premier League and his new teammates.
"I've seen him feel completely liberated and confident," Nagelsmann said. "He knows what he's capable of and how things work. He'll work hard to succeed."
