He said, "I'm happy to be here. From the beginning, when I saw that a big club like Roma wanted me, I was very happy. This could be a new chapter for me and my family, so I'm very happy to be here and I can't wait to get started."
Tsimikas also thanked the club's president and the sporting director for making his arrival possible. He expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved in the negotiations that allowed him to join the team.
When asked about fitting into coach Gian Piero Gasperini's system, Tsimikas said, "I remember playing against Atalanta two years ago with Liverpool. I was impressed by Gasperini's management style, especially in the first leg when we lost 3-0 to Liverpool."
"I think it was the heaviest defeat at Anfield in European competition, so I can say I've always liked Gasperini's style of play. I immediately thought his style suited me, because I like to push forward, cross, and try to score. I think he's a special coach, and I've always wanted to come here to train with him, learn from him, and play for him."
Tsimikas also talked about Serie A, saying, "I know the league; I watch a few games every now and then. I think it's the league with the most derbies, so I'm very happy to be able to start and help the team give their all. As I said, I've watched a lot of games, and in Serie A there are excellent players on every team. So I think it's a very competitive league, one I've always followed and which I really like."
