Newport County's chairman, Huw Jenkins, believes Fuchs is the right person to lead the team forward.

"We see Christian as the kind of person who can take our club to the next level," Jenkins said.

"We're optimistic about our future and we're looking to improve our position in League Two." He added that Fuchs shares the club's ambition to become a Premier League team.
