"I was very close to Rangers," he said. "I had positive and interesting talks with the owners, but I decided not to pursue the opportunity due to personal circumstances and a desire for a smooth transition."
Gerrard's family was in Bahrain at the time, and he felt he needed more time to consider the offer and be fully prepared for the challenge.
"I had to be 100% ready for a challenge of that magnitude," he said. "Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right, so I stepped aside. I'm confident they've found a great manager, and I wish the team all the best."
Gerrard's connection to the club remains strong, and he wishes the team continued success.
